Programme

10:00-11:00 Session 1. Introductory session on ontologies and LOT. (theoretical)
Elena Montiel and Alba Fernández (slides)
This session will introduce the concept of computer ontologies (already presented in the 1st PROTECT Workshop) and then the LOT methodology. The LOT (Linked Open Terms) Methodology is an industrial method for developing ontologies and vocabularies.
11:00-12:30 Session 2. How to elicit requirements (hands on, in break-out groups)
Elena Montiel and Víctor Rodríguez
This session will have a collaborative nature, where students will jointly work on an Ontology Specification Requirement Document.
  • Session 2a: Objectives (related to the WP or fictional)
  • Session 2b: Competency questions.
  • Session 2c: Identification of classes and properties with google spreadsheets.

Session will be split in three different breakout groups:

  • Breakout group WP1 - Privacy Paradigm (spreadsheet)
  • Breakout group WP2 - Ethics of Personalisation (spreadsheet)
  • Breakout group WP3 - Processing and Purpose in Personal Data Management (spreadsheet)

At the end of this session, you should be able to edit the ORSD dcument. Template available

12:30-13:00 Lunch break
13:00-14:00 Session 3: From UML based ontology conceptualizations to OWL
María Poveda (slides) and Serge Chávez (slides)
In this session, students will learn how to materialize conceptualizations. This session builds on the results of the previous session.
  • Session 3a (theory): From UML based ontology conceptualizations to OWL
  • Session 3b (practice). Practice with Chowlk
